Shafting

Thomson RoundRail shafting is manufactured to the highest quality standards in an ISO 9001:2015 registered facility to provide industry leading surface finish, roundness, straightness and cylindricity. Thomson offers the widest selection of linear shafting in the industry to ensure optimal performance, minimal maintenance and long life.

Profile Bearing & Guides

The Thomson Profile Rail assortment consists of the next generation Profile Rail 500 Series ball and roller linear guides, 400 Series, AccuMini, compact miniature MicroGuide^®, and lightweight T-Series. It is a complete offering of rails and carriages in a broad range of styles, sizes and unique features produced to industry standard dimensions for easy retrofitting into existing applications or designing into new applications.

Electric Actuators

Thomson standard linear actuators are made from rugged, high-quality components to ensure maintenance-free, reliable and safe performance for maximum life and value. They feature stroke lengths up to 36 in, speeds up to 3 in/sec, loads up to 3600 lbs and duty cycles up to 25% while fully loaded. These actuators integrate a self-contained, electric motor whose rotary motion is converted to linear displacement. With further integration of a printed circuit board, many control functionalities are enabled.

Screw Jacks

Ruggedly designed and produced with load-handling capacities up to 100 tons, Thomson screw jacks can be employed individually or easily configured into a multitude of synchronized, motorized arrangements. These precise, highly efficient and long-life components are built to your exact specifications, making them ideal for industrial, automation, military and defense, and many other demanding applications.

Ball Bushing Bearings

Thomson offers the world’s largest selection of state-of-the-art linear bearings. Choose from several families of inch or metric linear bearings and accessories to meet your specific design needs, including our Super Smart Ball Bushings, which offer load capacities up to 7760 lb. When used with RoundRail linear guides, the inherent self-aligning-in-all-directions design of these linear bearings allows for ultra-smooth travel when mounted to wider-toleranced prepared surfaces. When used with Thomson 60 Case® shafting, our linear bearings last up to 50% longer than conventional bearings.

Lead Screws

Thomson precision lead screws are an excellent economical solution for your linear motion requirements. For more than 30 years, Thomson has designed and manufactured the highest-quality lead screw assemblies in the industry. Our precision rolling machines ensure accurate positioning to 0.003 in/ft, and our PTFE coating process produces assemblies that have less drag torque and last longer.

Ball Screws

The ball screw drive is an assembly that converts rotary motion to linear motion (or vice versa). It consists of a ball screw and a ball nut packaged as an assembly with recirculating balls. The interface between the ball screw and the nut is made by balls which roll in matching ball forms. With rolling elements, the ball screw drive has a low friction coefficient (typically up to 98%). The forces transmitted are distributed over a large number of balls, giving a low relative load per ball comparatively.
